The story
This is the story of ‘Daisy’ a maid who works for a rich couple living in a mansion in the French countryside in the late 1800s. One day, the lord of the house initiates an affair with her. When the wife finds out about this, she blames Daisy and hits her head with a standing lamp, which causes her brain damage and kills her. She could go off to the afterlife, but she thinks that it would be more fun to stay in the living world and decides to keep haunting their house, living in the attic, and messing with the couple.
When they get old and pass away, Daisy stays alone in the abandoned mansion, with no one to haunt and mess with. She decides to pack her things and goes on an adventure, together with her ghostly chicken companion Gustav, looking for ‘fun’ in the human world and experiencing all the things she couldn’t do before. Exploring the newest scientific and technological inventions of the Belle Époque, Daisy finds herself drifting between the living world and her calling to the afterlife. During her travels, we see the first existing film cameras, electric lights, telephones, gramophones, the first cars and planes: all of which are explored and experienced by a character who literally has nothing to lose.
